Photos from: Nordic skiers thrive in unusual season

There was quite the turnaround in temperature in a span of a few days the past 10 days. But was it really warm enough Tuesday to ski shirtless? Jasper Johnston of Ely offered his support at Snowflake Nordic Center in Duluth where the CEC Nordic ski team had a meet. Highs in the 40s this week were a 60-degree swing from just days before when the temperature bottomed out at -20 overnight. Perhaps some of Johnston's perspective can be used. Imagine a 90-degree summer day suddenly dipping to 30, or one day this week suddenly popping to 100. Sure, take your shirt off. As March rolls in, 50s may be within reach soon.
