Cloquet Area Fire District personnel and Cloquet police officers take control of a car crash scene at the intersection of Highway 33 and Gillette Road near Walmart late morning on Thanksgiving Day.

A crash on Highway 33 near the Cloquet Walmart Thanksgiving Day resulted in only minor injuries to people, thankfully.

According to the Cloquet Police Department accident report, a blue Plymouth Neon driven by Tod Michael Urban Jr., of Britt, Minn. crashed into the back of a black Dodge Charger that was stopped at the traffic light, then also hit the passenger side door of a white Chevrolet Spark sitting in the left-turn lane next to the Dodge.

A witness told CPD officer Kristina Sather that Urban did not appear to slow down or make any effort to avoid rear-ending the Dodge. According to the report, Urban told police he looked away at something other than his phone before the accident. The Neon had extensive damage to the front end.

Urban was transported to Community Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. Cloquet Area Fire District Battalion Chief Steve Kolodge said two other patients in the vehicle that was hit from behind were treated and released at the scene.

Urban was ticketed for careless driving.
