Verna Adeline Sundeen, 93, of Esko, Minn. passed away Saturday, April 20, 2019 in Inter-Faith Care Center in Carlton.
She was born Feb. 26, 1926 in Cloquet to William and Sigrid Mattson. She grew up in Esko and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1944. Verna married Robert Sundeen on Oct. 4, 1946 in Esko.
Verna was a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church. In addition to her family, Verna's passions were cooking, music, and needlework. Verna and Bob enjoyed finding and refinishing antique furniture.
Verna was preceded in death by her husband Robert; daughter Sandra Antonson; brother Wilfred Mattson; niece Jodi Mattson; and special friend, Lou Stockman.
She is survived by her daughter Susan (Gary) Bonneville of Esko; son Bruce (Jodie) Sundeen of Esko; son-in-law Morrie Antonson of Cloquet; brothers Dale (Jan) Mattson of Coon Rapids and Ray (Punky) Mattson of Tucson, Ariz .; sister Elaine Lindell of Esko; and seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation: 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service Saturday, April 27 in St. Matthews Lutheran Church, Esko. A time of lunch and fellowship will follow. Burial will be in St. Matthews Lutheran Cemetery at a later date.
