It's been a long time coming, but The Old Log Church at Saints Mary and Joseph Catholic Church in Sawyer is fully restored and open for business. In this case, the business will be the celebration of Mass and the blessing of the Old Log Church by Bishop Paul Sirba at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 8.

Parishioners and others are invited to attend the service; those who can't fit inside the Old Log Church can watch from a television screen in the larger brick church next door.

The Old Log Church was built in 1884 as a mission church on the Fond du Lac Reservation, and is located off Highway 210 on Mission Road in Sawyer.

Following the service, they will also open a time capsule in the cornerstone of the brick church and celebrate with a parish picnic catered by B&B Market.
