The first day of school brought an extra adventure for Cloquet Middle School students who walked to and from school Wednesday after Washington Avenue got a complete redo this summer. Stop signs were replaced by flashing lights that were difficult to see in the bright afternoon sun Wednesday, so it is a good thing crossing guard Denise Risberg will be there before and after school with her orange flag.
