Obituary: Florence Elaine Mavis Holm

Florence Elaine Mavis Holm, 82, of Carlton, Minnesota passed away Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2019 in Inter-Faith Care Center with her loving family by her side.

She was born June 19, 1937 in Bruno to Charles and Elsie (Newman) Hanson.

While married to Robert Goad, they lived in Germany, England, and California before moving to Cloquet in 1964. After Robert’s death in 1969, Florence married Albert Holm. They made their home in Carlton where they were members of Bethesda Lutheran Church. Florence was a cook at the Cozy restaurant for many years. She enjoyed gardening and going to rummage sales. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren.

Florence was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Goad; grandson, Baby Boy Theisen; brother, Donavon Hanson; and brother-in-law, Roger Schmidt.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Albert; children Chuck (Barb) Goad, Bobbie Johnson, Craig (Desi) Holm, and Cheryl (Todd) Schilla; brothers Darrell Hanson, Dennis (Jayne) Hanson, and Raymond Hanson; sisters Darlene Hanson, Lurene Schmidt, Tammy (Mark) Benson, Gladys (Arlyn) Sievert, and Mary (Cliff) Monette; sister-in-law, Janet Hanson; nine grandchildren, Kristin and Chad Goad, Nichole and Robert Theisen, Brittany and Lindsey Dahl-Holm, Cody Jacoby, Aaron Schilla, and Callie Holm; and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 9:30 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019 in the Atkins Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St. in Cloquet. A time of lunch and fellowship will follow. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery in Wrenshall.
