Ward 3 council primary set for Tuesday

Voting for Ward 3 residents will take place at old Cloquet City Hall

November 1, 2019

Three candidates — Uriah Wilkinson, Ray Schow and Chris Swanson — are running for the Ward 3 Cloquet City Council seat vacated by Dakota Koski in July when he moved out of his ward.

The special primary election for Cloquet Ward 3 councilor is Tuesday, Nov. 5. The voting location for Ward 3 residents remains at the former Cloquet City Hall location, 1307 Cloquet Ave. The polls will be open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Following Tuesday’s primary, two of the three candidates will advance to the Ward 3 Special General Election, on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2020.

Absentee voting started in late September for the special primary election. Ward 3 residents who can’t vote Tuesday in Cloquet, may still vote absentee in person at the Carlton County auditor’s office on the second floor of the Carlton County Courthouse at 301 Walnut Avenue in Carlton Friday, Nov. 1 from 8 a.m.-4 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 2 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. and Monday, Nov. 4 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Ward 3 lies between Highway 33 and 14th Street, and Doddridge Avenue and the St. Louis River. Chris Swanson was appointed to fill the seat until an election could be held and the voters could choose someone to serve the remaining almost-three years of Koski’s term.
