Obituaries: Jace Cody Telega

November 1, 2019

Jace Cody Telega, 5, of Superior, Wisconsin passed away Saturday, Oct. 26, 2019, with loving family by his side.

Jace was a very kind, sweet boy whose smile would melt anyone’s heart. He was adored by so many. He was also quite the character, whose eyes and facial expressions said it all. He loved music, toys, presents, seeing his friends who visited to play with him, and his family. Jace just simply loved life.

He fought an incredible fight against brain cancer. Doctors had said numerous times over the past couple of years that Jace was likely in the last few days of his life, but he kept fighting and proved he wasn’t ready to be done just yet.

As Grandpa Al would say, “Doctors kept trying to pull the plug, but Jace kept plugging it back in.”

His courage, bravery and strength gave his mother especially the strength to keep fighting the good fight right alongside him. Whether at home or at Grandma’s, in an airport traveling to St. Jude or in the hospital numerous times, Jace remained simply happy and content. He made an impact on the many people he met in his short five years of life and touched many hearts. He brought so much joy and happiness to all who knew him.

He will forever be missed.

Jace is survived by parents, Nate Telega and Amanda Birman; Grandpa Al Birman (Renee) of Cloquet and Grandpa Tom Telega (Vicki Verso); Grandma Connie Morris (Brian Dudek) and Grandma Shawna Telega; great-grandparents Merlejean and Dick Ronning, Donna Wilson and Bill Hutter; uncles Cody Birman, Alan Birman and Cody Telega; and many other family and friends.

Visitation: 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. funeral service Friday Nov. 1 in Elim Lutheran Church, 6101 Cody St., Duluth.

Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home, 218-727-3555.
