Obituary: Ryan William Hill

November 22, 2019

Ryan William Hill, 34, died tragically due to an accident on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019.

He was born on June 22, 1985 in Cloquet, Minnesota. Ryan graduated from Cloquet High School in 2003. He started his journey with the love of his life, Ashley Clark, in May of 2004, and they were married on May 1, 2010 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Cloquet. Ryan had been employed at Savanna Pallets for the past 15 years. He was truly a family man who loved his wife and boys deeply. Ryan loved just about everything that brought him outdoors, camping, fishing and hunting, to name a few. He was always ready to play with his boys, on the hockey rink, snowboarding or riding dirt bikes. Ryan had a way that he made himself available to help people out, to lend a hand on a project, and he loved to entertain and put a smile on everyone’s face.

Ryan is survived by his wife, Ashley, and their boys, Ryley and Gavin Hill; his mother, Cindy (Fred) Wefelmeyer; his father, Michael (Becky) Hill; his brother and best friend, Paul (Brittney) Hill; brothers Nate (DesiRae) Cary and Zachary (Paris Jones) Cary; his grandparents Lyle and Fran Hill; stepgrandparents Fred and Marilyn Wefelmeyer; his father and mother in-law, Robin and Cheryl Clark; brothers-in-law, Aaron (Darcy Pearson) Clark and Alan (Meghan) Clark; sisters-in-law, Chandra (Jason Bambenek) Clark and Melissa (Ben Hatfield) Clark; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Kathleen and Billy Ekholm; stepgrandparents Delbert and Rose Larson; and best friend, Anthony Hagen.

Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26 at Nelson Funeral Care. Visitation resumes at 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial service Wednesday, Nov. 27 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 515 Skyline Boulevard in Cloquet. A luncheon will follow in the church social hall. To leave an online condolence, visit the guestbook at
