Letters: Remembering fun at the old YMCA

November 22, 2019

Great article on the “Y”’ in the Nov. 8 issue but one important ingredient was left out. Every Friday night, come rain, snow or bitter cold, we had what was called Dri-Nite Friday. The whole gym became a dance floor with Terry and His Pirates (a high school dance band) playing beautiful music from 8 to 12. Without fail, 200 or so would always show up. It was a tradition we all enjoyed.

Of course Dri-nite meant no drinking allowed and when the band played "I’ll See You In My Dreams” everyone looked for their favorite partner to dance the final dance.
