Eight Cromwell-Wright students will take their version of "Hard Candy" to subsections in Aitken Saturday. There'a a public performance in Cromwell on Wednesday.

Cromwell-Wright High School selected "Hard Candy" by Jonathon Rand for this year's One Act play. Director Mary Rose Varo said it's a funny play, centering around a fast-paced series of hilarious interviews by job applicants at Banff Enterprises who will do anything to claw their way up the corporate ladder.

"We have a cast of eight very talented junior high and high schoolers, several of them playing more than one role," said Varo.

The director and music teacher pointed out that plays in general give people a chance to explore their creativity and develop performance and presentation skills.

"One Acts have the added component of developing the ability to communicate a play's message well, in a short period of time," she added.

The Cardinals will travel to Aitken Saturday, Jan. 25, for their subsection competiton.

A community performance is set for 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29 at the school with a reception and meet-and-greet to follow.
