Student scholarship news: Floy Gilman scholarship

February 21, 2020

The Floy Gilman Scheidler Scholarship Foundation provides scholarships to residents of Carlton County who are pursuing post-high school education. The foundation was established in 1999 by Floy Dickison, former Esko high school English teacher and her sister, Ona Scheidler, a former Cloquet high school business teacher. They established the foundation in honor of their mother, Floy Gilman Scheidler.

Applicants must be residents of Carlton County and must have maintained a 3.0 GPA and been in the top 50 percent of their graduating class. Residents of Carlton County who are currently enrolled in a college or university or earned a GED or are home-schooled are also eligible to apply. In addition to academic achievement, applicants should show participation in extracurricular activities, community volunteer work and/or employment. Financial need is a consideration.

Completed applications are due by April 1. For more information, contact Linda Suer at 218-879-9541 or [email protected]
