UPDATED: Law enforcement respond to suicide at casino

Police responded to Black Bear Casino and Resort after a person completed a death by suicide there on Monday afternoon.

Carlton County Sheriff's Office deputies were called to Black Bear Casino and Resort Monday, March 9, after a caller reported a person with a hand gun and a shot fired inside the Seven Fires Steakhouse there.

According to a press release from the Sheriff's Office, deputies arrived and found a male deceased, by self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, in the restaurant. There were no other injuries and the incident was isolated to the steakhouse.

The investigation is ongoing. The male was identified as a 52-year-old male from Mahtomedi Minnesota. The name will not be released until notification of next of kin. The public is not in danger as this was an isolated incident.

The male and this incident have no involvement with the double homicide on the Fond Du Lac Reservation from over the weekend, according to Sheriff Kelly Lake.

Agencies that responded to this call were the Carlton County Sheriff's Office, Fond Du Lac Police Department, Cloquet Police Department, and Minnesota State Patrol.

According to the Black Bear Facebook page, both the Black Bear Buffet and Seven Fires Steakhouse restaurants are closed for tonight.
