More county offices open

July 10, 2020

All Carlton County governmental offices are now open to the public again, although there are numerous restrictions in place to try to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

All Carlton County offices at the Courthouse, including the assessor and auditor offices, are open. However, visitors are expected to practice at least 6 feet of social distancing and wear a face covering when appropriate. Only one person or household will be assisted in an office service area at a time.

The Public Health and Human Services building in Cloquet remains open to the public. Call 218-879-4511 before visiting PHHS if possible to discuss services and appointments if necessary.

Inside the PHHS building, the License Bureau is now processing motor vehicle and driver’s license transactions via appointment. To schedule an appointment, there is a link online.

Standard drivers licenses and IDs can now be renewed online as long as there are no changes. Driver’s licenses that expire March 13 or after have been extended to September 30 per the governor’s Peacetime Emergency Orders.

Real IDs and enhanced driver’s licenses cannot be done online and will need an appointment.

The Transportation building is open. The Southern Carlton County Family Center is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays only.

Chub Lake Park is open with social distancing guidelines in effect, but the beach is closed until further notice.
