After spending the last quarter of the spring giving virtual voice lessons, Hamre School of Voice held its classical spring recital on the grounds of the historic Scott House south of Carlton on June 13. It was the first time in 19 years that students haven't been unable to perform at the Presbyterian Church in Cloquet, said instructor and owner Gail Nelson-Hamre. "It was the longest semester ever, but the seniors were especially happy to have an event to look forward to," Hamre said. The recital on the shore of Lac La Belle was closed to the public but the limited number of guests followed social distancing protocol.
