Obituaries: Joyce E. Angell

Joyce E. Angell passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 in the arms of her daughter, her guardian angel at Inter-Faith Care Center in Carlton. Joyce was born in Minot, North Dakota on April 27, 1928 to Cecil and Jessie Compton. She was the second oldest of 11 siblings. After graduation from Superior Central, she moved to the Cloquet area to work at Diamond Match. While at the employee picnic at the Big Lake Resort, she met the love of her life, Jalmer Angell, and they shared the next 55-plus years together. She was one of the original builders of the Big Lake Golf Club. Joyce was one classy woman, and always decked out in purple with matching accessories.

Welcoming her into heaven are her husband, Jalmer; sons, Terry, Dick and Tom; daughter, Pam; her parents; sisters Sharon and Florine; and brothers Kenneth and Wilmer. She is survived by her best friend, daughter Penney (Del) Prevost; son-in-law, Steve Jacksie (Deb Saari); eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; sisters Avis Brenny, Violet (Gene) Weber, Pat Barningham and Judy Meierotto; brothers William Compton and Jim Compton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A very sincere and heartfelt appreciation is expressed to everyone on Oak Floor of Inter-Faith Care Center, especially Sarah Robertson. You all had a part in making Joyce feel at home with much love, care and compassion for the last five years. The family says "thank you" from our hearts to yours!!!!

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday, January 10, 2021 at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet. Visitation resumes Monday, January 11, 2021 from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service, also at Nelson Funeral Care. Interment service will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. The service can also be heard on radio station 91.1 from the funeral home parking lot. Masks and social distancing are required.
