Divots Driving Range in Sturgeon Lake is the only driving range between Hinckley and the Black Bear Casino Resort in Carlton.
Owned and operated by Luke and Jackie Horton, 2021 marks the fourth summer of operation for Divots Driving Range. For $6 a bucket, participants can get a good workout.
“There’s about 60 balls in a bucket,“ Luke said, “and people will leave their buckets about half full for the next customer because they get exhausted … especially with recent heat.”
Most of the customers are either local golf patrons or those who stay at their nearby cabins for the summer. Divots is located about 3 miles south of the Moose Lake Golf Course.
The driving range is approximately 300 yards long and has different colored stakes that represent various yardages from the tee. The tee box area has both natural grass and 100 feet of artificial turf. The balls are picked up by machine. Payment is done via credit cards.
