Wrong Days in Wright is scheduled for July 16, 17 and 18 at the Wright park in Wright. Find the schedule on Page 20 of this week’s Pine Knot. In the meantime, here are a few extra details for you.

The parade starts at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Groth Lumber area. Setup is 9:30 a.m .; call Rick at 952-215-1973. This year’s grand marshals are longtime Wrong Days volunteers Jake Kachinske and yours truly, Jennie K. Hanson.

The Extreme Team youth group will hold its rummage sale fundraiser 4-7 p.m. Friday, July 9 and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, July 10 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Wright. Donations are welcome; please call Liz Kabus at 218-428-6733 to set up a time to bring your donations. They are also selling ads for their 2022 calendar fundraiser.

The Cromwell Area Community Club is once again participating in the Minnesota Sings competition. We will have our area performances as part of Wrong Days in Wright at 7 p.m. Friday, July 16 at the Big Top. The Women of Bethlehem are selling tickets for a quilt raffle, featuring a beautiful log cabin quilt by Bette Deming. There will be several other prizes too. The drawing will be after the pie sale July 16. Tickets are $1 each.

Wrong Days buttons are available at Farmers Co-op, Kalli’s Place in Wright, and from Minettie at Tamarack. We are looking for volunteers to ask for donations for the button prize drawings, which will be held after the parade Saturday. There will be many prizes if we can get folks to go out and ask for donations; donations can also be sent directly to 620 Center Road, Wright MN 55798. The Area Clothing Depot donated $500 to Wrong Days in the form of ten $25 Co-op gift certificates and $250 toward steaks for Friday’s steak fry. These donations are greatly appreciated. In other news, Villa Vista and Cardinal Court had their first event open to the fully vaccinated public July 2. They observed the national Let Freedom Ring Celebration with patriotic songs, the Pledge of Allegiance, readings, and ringing the bells 13 times for the 13 original states represented by the signers of the Declaration of Independence. A picnic lunch was provided before the program, and cookies and coffee were served after the ceremony. It was so great to have some of the community take part in this very special event.

A wonderful Glow Run/Walk fundraiser was held in Kaleb Anderson’s memory July 3 at the Cromwell Park Pavilion. There were even fireworks at dusk, the first time this century that Cromwell has had fireworks, if ever. We thank the entire Anderson family for all their community involvement. May Kaleb’s memory always be held dear.

Our sympathy to the family of Marjory LeVesseur, 91, of Hutchinson who died July 3, 2021. She was the only sister of Walter and Darrel Johnson from Wright and Tamarack.

The City of Cromwell has some good news to share. Mayor Sharon Zelazny let me know that the city received a $177,500 grant from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Outdoor Recreation grant program for the Pavilion Park. This was a collaborative effort by many local clubs and organizations, and will bring a lot of enhancements to the park. Work on the park will take place next summer. Updates will follow.

Another goal of the City’s was to have the speed limit reduced from 60 mph to 45 mph on Highway 73, past Villa Vista and Cardinal Courts. The Minnesota Department of Transportation approved this speed reduction, which will bring increased safety to the area.

Blood drive coordinator Ray Lally thanks all who participated in the recent blood drive at the Cromwell Pavilion. There were 29 people signed up and 41 showed up, which was really great. Even the folks who set up the drive were very impressed. Ray gives special thanks to Tom Johnson for his assistance. By having the blood drive inside the pavilion, the donors can be spread out, so it’s much easier for everyone.

The Cromwell Area Young Old Timers will meet 12 p.m. Tuesday, July 14 for a picnic lunch, meeting and a short program. Let’s all wear as much red, white and blue as possible to celebrate our country’s 245th celebration of independence. New YOT members are always welcome.

Vacation Bible School is being planned for the evenings of Aug. 1-4 at Bethany in Cromwell. Call 644-3640 to register your kids or grandkids, etc.

The Harvest Fest stand-still parade will be held 10:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11 at Cromwell Park Pavilion. The theme this year, the 20th anniversary of Sept. 11, is “Remembering 9/11.” Patriotic themes are encouraged; consider creating a photo op on your float. Float prizes are $100, $75 and $50. Contact Deb Switzer at 218-340-1968. There is no entry fee, but advance registration is requested for staging purposes. All types of entries are invited, including businesses, clubs, political campaigns, old cars, tractors and so on.
