Charles R. Wick, 85, passed away peacefully July 4, 2021, surrounded by his family. He was born to Raymond and Elenore (Aiken) Wick on March 3, 1936. He married Sonja Swanson on Oct. 1, 1960. He was a member of the Fond du Lac Band of Ojibwe. Charles was a Korean War veteran who served his country with honor. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 3979 and American Legion Post 262 and participated in the Honor Guard for more than 50 years. Charles worked as supervisor at Diamond Match for 34 years, then at Black Bear Casino Resort as supervisor of housekeeping for 11 years. He owned Rainbow Wagon Concessions since the late 1980s, selling pizza and ice cream, which was his true passion.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Otis Wick and David Wick; daughter Penny Wait; grandson Dylan Friedman; and great-granddaughters Destiny Dylkowski and Kira Friedman.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sonja: son, Perry (Teresa) Wick; daughters Patty (Jason) Branham and Paula (William Biddle) Gotzh; grandchildren Shawn Adrian, Nicole Wick, Amber (Patrick Lussier) Wait, William (Ben) Lewis, Michael Friedman, Skye (Nick) Russo, Paige Johnson, Emma Branham, Miranda (Klye Kallstrom) Vandiver, Liam Branham, Brooklyn (Jake) Barney and Megan (Scott Abramowski) Wait; brothers Ole (Elenore) Nystrom and Marlin Wick; sisters, Ardy Kleinenberg, Gwen Klosner, Corrine Wick, Milda Tode, Betty (Len) Anderson and Carol Mirtica; great-grandchildren LaFonzo, Cole, Patrick, Riley, Mariah, Ty, Paeton, Journey, Paisley, Patience, Saige, Ivy, Cayden, Camden, Miles, Promise, Brice, Kawhi, Elijah and Katerina; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank all nurses on 2 West at St. Luke’s for the wonderful care they provided, and the doctors from the Min No Aya Win clinic. A special thanks to St. Luke’s Hospice for the home-care.

Visitation: 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial service Friday, July 9 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Cloquet. Military Honors will be presented by the Cloquet Combined Honor Guard. Graveside inurnment service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 10 at Old Holy Family Cemetery. Arrangements are with Nelson Funeral Care of Cloquet.
