Obituaries: Lowana Lee Johnson

Lowana Lee Johnson, 85, of Cloquet passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2021 with her loving family by her side. She was born Sept. 30, 1935 in Cloquet to Ralph and Lucille (Sundeen) Millen. She graduated from Cloquet High School in 1953. After high school she worked at Northwest Paper Company. On Aug. 4, 1956 she married Dwayne “Duke” Johnson. She stayed home while raising her family, and in the late ‘70s she went to work at Spies Disco Foods for about ten years. From 1995 until 2015 they wintered in Mesa.

Lowana was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. She enjoyed golfing, playing cards, bike riding, playing bocce ball, and flower gardening. Playing cards was her favorite.

Lowana was preceded in death by her husband, Dwayne; parents, Ralph and Lucille; parents-in-law, Lawrence and Violet Johnson; and nephew, Scott Millen.

She is survived and will be sadly missed by her children, Steve Johnson, Guy Johnson, and Tracy (Gary) Hoff; brother, Dick (Kathy) Millen; sister, Kay Randall; grandchildren, David (Angela) Hoff, Samantha (Jason) Hoff, Rachael (Joshua) Stepaniak, Mitchell, Madeline, Lucius and Lyle Johnson; great-grandchildren, Erika and Heidi Hoff; several nieces and nephews; and her faithful companion, Buddy.

Visitation: 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. memorial service Saturday, July 10 in the Atkins Northland Funeral Home, Cloquet. Inurnment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.
