Undoubtedly, the number of folks swells far beyond the population of roughly 127 (as of the 2010 census) during the annual Wrong Days in Wright celebration.

Events kicked off Friday evening with a variety of small-town events to bring people together, from a pie social to kids' games and OGNIB (bingo spelled backward), concluding with a fireworks display at dusk. The annual steak fry was so popular that they were sold out of potatoes by 6 p.m., and the crowd stayed around to enjoy the Minnesota Sings competition Friday at the Big Top. Organizer Ann Markusen said the enthusiastic applause was much appreciated by this year's contestants.

Sponsored by the Cromwell Area Community Club, Pearl Schulte of Wright placed tops in the 20-and-older category. Aurora Gervais placed first and Zachary Kabus second in the 12-19 age group. Cromwell's Deb Switzer, Duluth's Beth Wilson, and last year's statewide winner, Joey Kotiranta, of Sawyer were the judges and gave excellent feedback to all contestants.

The parade was the highlight Saturday - featuring grand marshals and media celebrities Jennie Hanson and Jake Kachinske - but the fun went on all day with music in the Big Top, games in the park, and volleyball and softball tournaments all day long.
