Obituaries: Donald A. Anderson

September 24, 2021

Donald A. Anderson, 91, of Cloquet passed away from a stroke on Sept. 16, 2021, at St. Luke's Hospice. He was born to Alver and Lillian (Erickson) Anderson on June 2, 1930, in Cloquet.

Don was a lifelong resident of Cloquet. He married Rosemary Bodie on May 1, 1954, and together they raised six children. Don was employed for many years at Bodie's Grocery. It was often joked that he hated to leave Carlton County, the exception being fishing trips with family and his fishing partner Ernie Vestin. Don enjoyed working with wood, completing many projects from scratch, as well as refinishing furniture purchased from auctions and estate sales. He was known for his quick wit and easy demeanor.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Lois Senarighi and Dorothy Burton; and brother, Dennis Anderson.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of 67 years, Rosemary; his children, Brad (Carol) Anderson, Beth (Chris) Chartier, Lee (Beth) Anderson, Gwen (Terry) Sunnarborg, Jan (Kevin) Richardson, and Jason (Megan) Anderson; his grandchildren, Sara, Kimberly, Jill, Marley, Kayla, Holly, Cassie, Kaitlyn, Logan, Noelle, Luke, Ahna, Nathan, Kyle and Aubrey; 20 great- grandchildren and one on the way; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends he made during his 91 years on Earth.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Cloquet, St. Luke's Hospice in Duluth or the Cloquet Educational Foundation are preferred.

Due to Covid-19 numbers increasing in the area, a private graveside service will be held. To leave an online condolence, visit the guestbook at http://www.nelsonfuneralcare.net
