A semi-truck driver was pronounced dead at the scene after his truck rolled into a ditch on Highway 210 just after 5 a.m. Friday, Oct. 15.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol report, 49-year-old Dallas Clinton McCloud of Baudette, Minnesota, was driving an International semi eastbound on Highway 210 near Corona Road when the truck rolled into the ditch. Road conditions were dry and McCloud was wearing a seatbelt; no other vehicles were involved.

The accident happened on a sharp corner on the two-way highway. The semi hit a power pole, knocking out electricity to 359 Lake Country Power members. Marilyn Kiehl lives about 4 miles from the crash scene and said Lake Country Power was down at her house for nearly five hours.

According to LCP spokesperson Tami Zaun, 122 members were without service from 5:05 until 9:09 a.m. The remaining 237 co-op members had their service restored by 9:26 a.m. “A pole replacement will happen either this week or next week,” Zaun said in an email to the Pine Knot. “If a planned outage is deemed necessary, members will be contacted via phone or a voicemail will be left on their answering machine.”
