Obituary: Char Trettel

Charlene "Char" Anne Trettel, 82, Cloquet, passed away at Benedictine Health Center in Duluth on Monday, Dec. 27, 2021. She was born Oct. 1, 1939, in Cloquet to Charles and Anne (Monson) Erkkila. She graduated from Esko High School in 1956. Char married Cyril Trettel on June 3, 1961, and was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church.

She worked as a seamstress for many years at Wear-A-Knit. Char's passion was crafting, sewing, knitting baby sweaters and making cakes. She loved gardening and had her own greenhouse. She took care of everyone's crafting needs. Char enjoyed fishing trips with her husband and Milwaukee shopping trips with her sister and niece.

Char will be greatly missed by many.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cyril Trettel; parents, Charles and Anne Erkkila; brother, Leonard; and sisters, Linda Williams and Kaye Erkkila.

Char is survived by her daughters, Beth (Peter) Johnson of Cloquet, Amy (Jeremy) Laveau of Wrenshall; sisters, Rose (Roy) Aho, Agnes Aho, both of Cloquet; two grandchildren, Remingten Laveau and Morgan Laveau; and her loving cat, Mimsee.
