Obituary: Thomas "Tommy" R. Rosen

Thomas “Tommy” Richard Rosen, 58, of Cloquet passed away Jan. 12, 2022 at his home. He was born March 25, 1963 in Duluth, the son of Robert G. and Aletha E. (Schmidt) Rosen. Tommy graduated from Cloquet High School in 1981 and participated on the high school golf team and ski jumping team. He was united in marriage to Taina Bottila on Aug. 3, 2007 in Cloquet. Tommy worked for more than 40 years at the Cloquet Country Club in numerous capacities, including grounds maintenance and kitchen crew. He also worked at the Museum Restaurant for his brother Michael, and for the Eagles Club, where he cooked breakfasts. Tommy worked as head custodian for the South Terrace Elementary School in Carlton since 2005. He was a member of the Cloquet Country Club and the Cloquet Eagles Club, and he enjoyed going to Perham to visit family relatives and go hunting, fishing, and golfing.


Tommy was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Rebekah; one brother, David; and his mother in law, Miriam Bottila. He is survived by his wife, Taina; sons, Tyler (Jensina) Rosen, and Tony Rosen; stepchildren, Cody Thompson, Garrett Langenbrunner and Dylan Langenbrunner; brothers Mark (Karen) Rosen, Stephen (Janet) Rosen, Daniel (Monica) Rosen, Michael Rosen, Timothy (Beth) Rosen, and John Rosen; one sister, Rachelle (Paul) Jensen; sister-in-law, Laura Rosen; grandchildren, Aidan, Lilyana, Dorian, Amelia and Mischa; his father-in-law, William Roger Bottila; brother-in-law, Allan Bottila; sister-in-law, Anja Bottila; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Celebration of Life for Tommy will be held 2-4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2022 at Nelson Funeral Care with refreshments in the fellowship room.
