Obituary: Charles Henry Lembke

Charles H. Lembke, 87, of Cloquet, passed away Jan. 29, 2022, at Inter-Faith Care Center in Carlton. He was born Dec. 13, 1934, in West Seneca, New York, the son of Mason H. and Violet Lembke.

Charles served in the U.S. Army for most of his life, serving two tours in Vietnam, and retired in 1977 as a Master Sergeant.

He was involved with the White Oak Society in Deer River, which provides education through the medium of 18th- and 15th-century historical reenactments. Charles was a past commander of Hebert-Kennedy VFW Post 3979 and the Disabled American Veterans. He also enjoyed fishing and woodworking, and was an avid reader.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, and one son, Wayne Lembke.

He is survived by his wife, June Johnson-Lembke; children Donna Norton, Eleanor Miller, Shirley Mulder, Rodger Johnson, Dennis (Pat) Johnson, Scott (Christina) Johnson, Robert (Jody) Johnson, and Pete (Kathy) Johnson; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Saginaw at a later date. Arrangements are with Nelson Funeral Care of Cloquet.
