Obituary: Deborah Jeane Rubesh

Deborah J. Rubesh, 72, of Carlton passed away Feb. 25, 2022, at Benedictine Health Center in Duluth. She was born Dec. 19, 1949, the daughter of Stanley and Helen (Dzuck) Menart. She graduated from Morgan Park High School and pursued a degree in education, graduating

From the University of Minnesota Duluth with a master’s degree.

Deb worked for the Wrenshall school district, teaching in the elementary school for 35 years. She was married to Richard “Dick” Rubesh in Duluth on Dec. 18, 1971, and together they raised three sons. Deb was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, and enjoyed snowshoeing, crafting, kayaking, bicycling, gardening, and sewing and quilting. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

Deb was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard, in 2009; and her sister, Kathleen Anderson. She leaves behind her sons, Jeremy (Angela), Michael (Jody), and Daniel (Julie) Rubesh; grandchildren, Laura, Joseph, Justice, Libby, Katie, Kristen and Branden Rubesh, and Makayla and Brian Schubitzke; great-grandchildren, Jackson and Raelynn; and numerous cousins and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Feb. 28 at St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment will be held in the spring at Hillside Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Richard. Nelson Funeral Care assisted the family with the final arrangements.
