Let the summer festivitIes continue

August 5, 2022

The problem this weekend isn’t finding something to do, it’s choosing among the myriad options right here in Carlton County.

There are Fun Days in Esko, Brickyard Days in Wrenshall and a Honey Bee Festival in Carlton, not to mention a music festival in Askov for those who fancy a road trip.

Like parades? You’ll have to choose between Esko and Wrenshall on Saturday morning.

Bingo? Head to Wrenshall’s Deer Park early Saturday afternoon.

Music more your thing? The Honey Bee Festival at the Oldenburg House in Carlton offers two solid days of everything from jazz to folk to fiddles Friday and Saturday, with a mermaid thrown in for fun.

B&B Market Catering & Quality Meats. On top of Big Lake Hill in Cloquet.

Want to experience a hot dog eating contest as a participant or a spectator? Brick’s Pub and Grub is holding one Saturday at 5:30 p.m.

The conviviality continues in Esko, too. National Night Out was bumped to Thursday, Aug. 4, along with the root beer floats in the park. Friday is teen night at the sports complex while all the grown-ups head to various multi-class reunions.

Saturday is the grand finale of the Eskomo events, with the Kristin Burkholder 5K walk/run in the morning, the parade starting at 11:30 a.m., followed by games in the park, and wrapping up with an all-ages street dance that evening in the fire hall parking lot.
