Obituary: Sherman Lane Risdall

Sherman Lane Risdall went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, with his wife and family by his side Aug. 13, 2022. He was born in St. Paul to Clayton and Myrtle (Peterson) Risdall on May 19, 1947.

Sherm graduated from Cloquet High School in 1965 and attended University of Minnesota Duluth. He served in the Army National Guard and worked at Conwed/USG in Cloquet for more that 40 years, retiring in 2009.

Sherm loved the outdoors and his interests and hobbies included fishing, hunting, golf, photography, camping, and spending time with his family and friends. Sherm loved his Lord and was always excited to study God's Word. He graduated from Faith Bible Institute after completing a three-year course of study. He was in the very first Faith Bible Institute graduating class at Grace Church. Sherm loved his Grace Church family and always looked for ways to serve. At the time of his death he was a deacon and was formerly a trustee for many years.

Sherm had a deep love for his family and friends. He was dearly loved by his wife, Deb, and they shared life together for 51 years. He is survived by his wife, Debra (Franzen) Risdall; children, Jason (Teresa) Risdall, Andy (Gina) Risdall and Natalie (Mike) Borowski; grandchildren, Emily, Joshua, Kaitlyn, Campbell, Maisy, Gabrielle, Elijah and Calvin; siblings, Suzanne (Alan) Nelson, Emery (Gale) Risdall, and Craig (Wendy) Risdall; his Aunt Alda Twite; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation: 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Celebration of Life Friday, Aug. 19 at Grace Church, 601 14th St., Cloquet. A luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall. Donations will be contributed to The Timothy Initiative, an international church planting organization that partners with local believers around the world to make disciples and plant churches in the least-reached areas.
