There may be fewer than 400 residents in Cromwell, but they know how to make a small-town fun.

This weekend marks the annual Harvest Festival, bringing three-plus days of food, fun and music. All events take place at the pavilion unless noted.

Weather permitting, six balloonists will be offering rides and a show at the school baseball field Friday night starting at 5:30 p.m., then again Saturday at 5:30 and 8 p.m. Contact Brenda at 218-390-4570 to get on the list.

On Friday, there’s a steak fry 4-7 p.m. for $15 a plate for steak and $5 for a hot dog plate, bingo starting at 7 p.m. along with a quilt raffle, and a high school football game in Ely.

Saturday is the big day, with craft vendors, a patriotic salute at 9:15 a.m., a kiddie parade at 9:30 a.m., and kids’ games and a scavenger hunt to follow. The youth cornhole tournament for kids 7-12 and 13-18 begins at 10 a.m., then look for face painting, clowns and balloons starting at 11 a.m. Enjoy a slice of pie and ice cream at the noon social.

Adults can have fun too, with a bean bag tournament starting at 2 p.m., music in the park 1-4 p.m., a beer garden 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and a dance at the pavilion featuring the River Hill Rangers from 8 p.m. to midnight.

On Sunday, there will be pancake breakfast 8-9:30 a.m. The Riverside Drifters show begins at 9 a.m. and the community worship service starts at 10 a.m., with offerings directed to the Tri-Community Food Shelf.
