Obituary: Margaret "Maggie" Louise Hubbell

Margaret "Maggie" Louise Hubbell, 82, earned her angel wings on Aug. 30, 2022. She was born in Cloquet on Feb. 23, 1940, the daughter of Harold and Helen McIntyre. Margaret attended Our Lady of Sacred Heart Catholic School until the eighth grade and graduated from Cloquet Senior High School, class of 1958. While attending high school, she met the love of her life, Lee Hubbell. Lee and Maggie were happily married March 4, 1960. They never left each other's side throughout their 62 years of marriage, building their own home, and raising a family where their philosophy is always family first, hugs, and "I love you" at every gathering.

Maggie started playing the piano when she was very young, and she played beautifully throughout her life - even 'till last week! Many of her favorite songs were played at her bedside while she passed.

Maggie was a great example of having family traditions, which will continue in her honor. Christmas cookie making, holiday dinners, making her famous 7-Layer bars are just a few traditions that will be held close. Lee and Maggie started camping and fishing right from the start of their marriage - from tent to trailer. She made several lifelong friends through her camping experiences. Maggie's other interests were sewing, snowmobiling with neighbors, basket making, gardening and berry picking, ceramics, rollerblading and cross-country skiing. She was an avid book reader and one to keep connections with family and friends. She always looked forward to going to coffee group on Monday and Thursday mornings with Lee to see their special friends.

Maggie will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Lee, and her three girls, Theresa (Dennis) Roy, Tina (Gary) Micke and Toni (Brad Jensen) Hubbell, all of Cloquet; her brother Bill (Karen) McIntyre; her grandchildren - who nicknamed her "Mic" - Sarah (Joe) Shelerud, Nikki (Tim Bongs) Roy, Cassie (Coleman) Connolly, Hannah (Richard) Bjerkness, Cody Stevens, Sadie (Josh) Kukowski and Caleb Stevens; step-grandchildren Melanie (Nick) Tangen, Daniel (Niki) Micke and Andrea (Ted) Miller; great-grandchildren Owen, Evan and Clara Shelerud, Margot Bjerkness, and Levi, Austin and Cole Kukowski, and a great-grandchild on the way; step-great-grandchildren Harrison and Bennett Tangen, Annabelle Micke, and Devin, Brody and Jaxton Miller. Maggie had numerous extended family members including in-laws, nieces and nephews.
