Farmers Market: In celebration of zucchini

The Carlton County Farmers Market will celebrate harvest season with activities and vendor specials from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 17
at the usual location in front of Premiere Theatres, 904 Highway 33 S. in Cloquet.
Events include:
• Zucchini making and races. Zucchinis, wheels, axles, decorations and a speedway ramp will be available so kids (and their grown-ups) can make and race their own zucchini speedsters.
• An ongoing bean bag tournament for Market Bucks.
• Tomato tasting. Sample tomatoes grown by our farmers. Vote for your favorite to see who will go home with this year’s gilded “Terrific Tomato” trophy.
• Temporary “I Love Farmers Markets” tattoos.
• Farmers market banner drawing. Help make a banner for the market! Draw your favorite thing at the farmers market. A vinyl banner and colorful markers will be available in the festival tent.
• Free pumpkins for the first 10 children age 10 and younger to find the Market Mouse.
