Racers take off in Saturday's Cloquet River Run. Between the 1-mile and 5K races, the annual Churchill Elementary fundraiser attracted more than 300 runners this year, according to race co-director Heidi Berg.

The weather was mild and the scenery exceptional for this year's Cloquet River Run, which offers runners both a 1-mile and a 5-kilometer race for all ages. Race co-director Heidi Berg said they had more than 300 runners total in both races, so numbers are creeping back up after the pandemic put a damper on the annual event.

"It was great, and the weather held out for us," Berg said, adding that they also held shorter races in front of the school for children up to age 6. The event is a fundraiser for Churchill Elementary School in Cloquet; proceeds go toward health-related equipment and programs and technology purchases.
