October 21, 2022

Dr. Robert Thomas Johnson, DDS, died at 8:45 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 14, 2022. He was 88 years old, succumbing after a long fight with cancer.

He was a staple of the Carlton community, having completed his 51st year of being a dentist in 2010. He retired to travel and watch his grandchildren play a never-ending list of sports. His favorite pastime was taking care of his extensive yard and his grass cutting.

Robert was a Hines, Wisconsin native. He went to the University of Wisconsin-Superior for pre-

dentistry courses, completing his degree at the University of Minnesota. He then served in the U.S. Air Force, having met his soon-to-be wife on a tour to Italy. After returning to the States, he was married, and returned to northern Minnesota. He worked with Dr. Haubner prior to opening his own office in Carlton in 1974.

His coffee breaks at Charlotte's Café were well-established, as was his propensity for plaid pants.
