The hoax bomb and shooting calls concerning Cloquet and Esko schools as well as Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College made national news this week, when WIRED magazine published a story taking a deep dive into the who, what and why of the fake “swatting” calls that disrupted the school day twice in Cloquet and sent Esko students home this year. Locally, Cloquet police chief Derek Randall was interviewed for the story, as were Cloquet school officials Michael Cary and Hayley Kachinske.
