Obituary: George "Butch" Baker

George "Butch" Baker, 66, of Barnum passed away Nov. 6 with his family by his side after fighting cancer. He was born March 22, 1956, to George and Lucille Baker of Barnum.

George served in the National Guard in 1978. He worked for Goodwill Industries for many years. He also worked in his own business, Y Buy New, in Cloquet with his wife.

He enjoyed fishing and camping with his family out at Wicklund Campgrounds. He enjoyed hunting with his son and Eric Gist. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, of whom he was very proud and loved very much.

George was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lucille Baker; granddaughter Miranda Golen; brothers-in-law Dennis, Rask and Jhon Sehlin; and his father-in-law William Burton.

He is survived by his wife, Lisa Baker; daughters Tonya Baker, Amanda Baker (McGee Lockling), Billie Joe Ranta and Tara Connor; his son, Mike (Alicia) Baker; his grandchildren, Alissa, Tristan, Caleb, Dustin, Trinity, Autumn, Brandon, Leith, Katelynn, Gavin, Dominique, Celeste, Shawnda, Ashley, Alex and Autumn; and seven great-grandchildren, Rayden, Ellie, Linnea, Knox, Forrest, Logan and Milo. He is also survived by his sisters Lois Drazich, Cheryl Tate, Diane Sehlin, Kathy Jones, Carol Steele and Bets Danielson, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life for George will be held at his chili benefit on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 5 p.m. at the Carlton VFW.
