Obituary: Robert L. Johnson

Robert L. Johnson, 89, of Cloquet passed away Jan. 21, 2023, at Community Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his family.

He was born Nov. 22, 1933, in Cloquet, the son of John and Marion (Jesse) Johnson. Bob served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He worked as an electrician for International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 242 in Duluth, where he was a member for more than 50 years. Bob volunteered many hours of his electrical talents with many others to help build the Cloquet hockey shelter, "The Barn."

He was a member of the Hebert-Kennedy VFW Post 3979, the Carl Anderson American Legion Post 262, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1163.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Renee; brothers, Richard "Dick" Johnson and Frank Johnson; sister Lois Laakso; and nephews Dale Johnson and Dean Johnson. He is survived by his children, Jody Johnson and Lisa (Michael Gualario) Johnson; sister Barbara Newton; granddaughter, Jodell (Joshua) Paulsrud; and numerous nieces and nephews. Robert and his family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Community Memorial Hospital for the compassion and excellent care given to him.

At the family's request, no services will be held at this time. Arrangements are entrusted to Nelson Funeral Care.
