Students noted for ecology excellence

Nearly 20 Cloquet middle- and high school students attended the Ecology Science Fair on Jan. 28, held at the University of Minnesota Student Center in St. Paul. Many of them were recognized for their projects at the event.

Nineteen Cloquet students participated in the Ecology Science Fair on Jan. 28, held at the University of Minnesota Student Center in St. Paul.

The Ecology Science Fair focuses on student‐driven investigations in ecology, the study of relationships of organisms to one another and their environment, encouraging students to engage in all steps of the research process, including the important final step of data presentation.

Attending the fair were 14 Cloquet middle school students, Jeremiah Bents, Olivia Berg, Graham Blackwood, Melanie Buhs, Ethan De Pree, Peyton Feehan, Levi Finn, McKenna Gandhi, Finley Holz, Adriana Mondati, Bristol Vanguilder, Peyton Werner, Hendrix Wilkinson, and Gracie Young. The four high school students attending the fair were Ethan Lavan, Grace Lavan, Parker Sickmann and Johanna Bernu.

Outstanding question award

Parker Sickmann, Levi Finn, Ethan De Pree, McKenna Gandhi, Peyton Werner and Hendrix Wilkinson.

Outstanding project award

Jeremiah Bents, Finley Holtz, Grace Lavan, Johanna Bernu, Graham Blackwood and Ethan Lavan.

Participation in the Ecology Fair is supported by Cloquet Public Schools and the Cloquet Educational Foundation.
