Donna M. Mundell, 85, of Carlton passed away April 26, 2023, in Maplewood. She was born Sept. 11, 1937, in Tracy, the daughter of William and Pearl (Keith) Hackett. Donna was united in marriage to Gerald Davis Mundell on July 24, 1959. She worked for many years as a baker at the Truck Stop in Carlton, and as a cook at Community Memorial Hospital from 1992 until retiring in 2003. Donna was also an Avon Lady for 30 years. Donna enjoyed quilting, ceramics and crafts, baking for family and friends, outings and lunches with her “birthday club” friends, and watching the wildlife in her yard. But most importantly, she loved her family.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gerald; daughter Debbie; and several brothers and sisters-in-law. She will be deeply missed by her family, sons Marty (Julie) Mundell of Round Rock, Texas and Gerald “Shorty” (Karla) Mundell of Hugo; daughter Marsha (Derrin) Willie of Cloquet; foster daughter, Gail Jakubek of St. Paul; grandchildren, Paul (Molly) Keith, Destiny (Steve) Flaim, Jason Mead, Misty (Brian) Riebe, Daniel (Kelsey) Mundell, Erin (Craig) Hyatt, Justin Mundell, Doug Hirdler and Becky Ward; great-grandchildren, Hunter and Haily
Flaim, Sami and Hana Mundell, Joe Jerikovsky, Ava Mead, and Joseph and Kathrin
Riebe; her sisters, Jeannie, Sandy and Beverly; numerous nieces and nephews; and
special friend Stanley Hultgren.
A special thank-you to Mick Mundell, Derrin Wytaske, Chad Connor, Jack Mickle, Brian Grover, and all the staff at St. John’s Hospital in Maplewood for your special care and dedication to Donna.
A Celebration of Life for Donna will be held 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday, May 7 at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet. Inurnment will be held at Sandy Lake Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Nelson Funeral Care of Cloquet.
