A hometown newspaper with a local office, local owners & lots of local news
It’s over. The Pine Knot News has officially declared that winter is over. It’s time to move on. Should we be wrong, we will not print a correction. We’ll take our chances in court with Old Man Winter.
If we had the space, we’d spend a lot of newsprint disparaging winter and further increasing our chances of more court dates for libelous commentary.
Ah, spring. This is the stuff. This issue celebrates warmer weather this week with a special section tucked inside the print edition of this week's paper. It’s called “Spring Fever,” and it has some tips on what to do outside now that winter has finally left town.
This edition of the Pine Knot is also special because we printed 17,000 of them this week to go out into every mailbox in Carlton County. It’s our way of spreading the news that we are here, the newspaper of record in the county, and ready for your subscription.
If you are new to us, we’ll tell you that the Pine Knot has been judged the best weekly newspaper in Minnesota for three straight years, not bad for an upstart that only began printing in 2018.
Enjoy spring. Enjoy the paper. Frequent the advertisers who helped make this special distribution happen. And support local journalism and information by subscribing today.
If you subscribe in person at our West End office in Cloquet, you’ll get the added benefit of catching the much-raved about fabric arts display in our Knot Gallery, home of local artists on a rotating basis. We might even throw in a magnet for the fridge.
Our door is open. Just not for winter. No more.
