Charles Miles Bastien

Charles Miles Bastien, 77, of Carlton passed away peacefully Jan. 20, 2024, at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth. He was born Aug. 9, 1946, one of seven siblings born to Louis and Helen Bastien.

Charlie attended Our Lady of the Sacred Heart School through the eighth grade and continued on to Cloquet High School. Following graduation, Charlie enlisted and served four years in the U.S. Navy. He furthered his education at both Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College and the College of St. Scholastica. Charlie worked at Essentia Health and Miller Dwan Medical Center, and eventually retired from Black Bear Casino.

He was an avid music fan and album collector. He enjoyed watching and following all sports. His funny personality, kind heart, thoughtful ways, and love of laughter will always be remembered and cherished.

Family who went before Charlie include his parents; an infant brother, Michael, and younger brother, Elroy Bastien.

Family he leaves behind include his siblings, Duane (Yvonne) Bastien, Roberta Osborne, John Bastien, Janet (Sherman) Liimatainen, and Cindy (Jim) Skagerberg.
