When I was 16, my dad bought a four-door 1939 Buick. I was the main driver at the time. I would take my siblings to various places. I was also able to drive to work. I worked at the drive-in movie theater several miles from home during the summer, so usually had the mornings open.

One summer, my dad got a membership at a sportsmen's club. They had a pool, so several times a week, I would bring my siblings there to swim. We lived about a mile from the school, but I seldom drove to school because I could walk faster than waiting in traffic and finding a place to park near the school.

I took several of my siblings to take their driver's tests. When my brother was able to drive, someone ran a stop sign and wrecked that car. My brother was able to sell some of the parts from the car and the insurance was enough to buy a 1940 Buick.
