Letter: Cloquet library is a special place

Please recognize, support and utilize an important and valued city asset: the Cloquet Public Library.

The library has been acknowledged by the Minnesota Department of Education as providing well above the minimum level of support for 2025. Should a library fall below the state-certified level, Minnesota law requires removal of the city from State Library Services funding formulas. This would greatly reduce the breadth and depth of library services available to Cloquet city and area residents.

It has been a few years since the Cloquet Public Library expanded and nearly doubled its floor plan space in 2019-20. The pandemic shuttered services for a period of time. But now and for an extended period of time, the library has been delivering exceptional, diverse, and requested services to city patrons and guests of the community. The small and large conference rooms are being utilized to nearly maximum capacity.

This past summer, the Cloquet Public Library had a record number of participants in the summer reading program. Over 500 children signed up for the program, and more than 1,800 people came to events. The library partnered with Cloquet’s Community Memorial Hospital and others to provide incentives and prizes.

Please go to the library or visit the website (cloquetlibrary.org) or Facebook page to stay abreast of local programs.

We appreciate and encourage Cloquet and local residents’ support and visits. Explore our library resources. Let our talented staff assist you in your lifetime learning goals.
