In his role as an environmental economist, Shogren was part of a team of 2000 scientists and researchers who worked together on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change to establish a connection between human activity and global warming. They and Vice President Al Gore were awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007 for that work.
