Carlton VFW brings a Merry Christmas to many area families

Many Carlton VFW and Auxiliary volunteers worked to raise money to give away Christmas food baskets, coats and warm socks. Among the volunteers were Dave Swenson, Steve Fluck, Yvonne Swenson and Linda Kaehl (pictured) plus so many others.
The Carlton VFW 2962 Post and Auxiliary gave out 76 Christmas food baskets to area veterans' families and other families in the Carlton County area. In addition to the food baskets, 97 children received a gift plus a winter jacket and socks.
To help pay for these, the VFW auxiliary and post members raised $16,016 through their annual Christmas Auction, and received donations from the city of Carlton, local businesses and generous community members from Carlton, Wrenshall, Esko, Cloquet and other surrounding communities.
