Obituaries: Margaret A. Fredrick

Margaret A. Fredrick, 99, of Holyoke, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2019, at Sunnyside Health Care in Cloquet.

She was born March 25, 1920 in Ceylon, Minnesota to Jesse and Paulina Persons. Margaret graduated from Wrenshall High School in 1938 and served as postmaster for Holyoke for more than 25 years. She was united in marriage to Ervin Fredrick on Aug. 17, 1940. Margaret was always a busy housewife and enjoyed canning and cooking, and was commonly known as the “Bean Lady of Holyoke.”

Church was an important part of her life, and she taught Sunday school for many years and was a member of the Ladies Aid. Margaret also was treasurer of the town of Holyoke for almost 60 years.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ervin; her son, Ronald Fredrick; and all her siblings.

She is survived by one daughter, Marcia (Jerry) Stavang; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 12 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, 2019 until the 1 p.m. funeral service at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 802 Maple Grove Road in Duluth. Interment service will be at Holyoke Cemetery, followed by a luncheon in the Holyoke Town Hall.

Arrangements are with Nelson Funeral Care of Cloquet.
