Cloquet homecoming royalty crowned

CHS senior Madi Vermeersch is surprised to be crowned 2019 CHS homecoming queen by last year's queen, Ellie Peddle.

Cloquet High School seniors Madi Vermeersch and Trey Harkins were crowned Homecoming Queen and King on Friday, Oct. 4 at Bromberg Field in a time-honored tradition.

CHS activities assistant Matt Carlson said last Friday was packed with homecoming activities, from the pep fest on the football field that afternoon to the football game against Grand Rapids and a school dance after. "We had a good crowd," Carlson said. "It was good football weather." The halftime celebration included introductions of 10 pairs of candidates and a guessing game of "almost royalty" before the crowning of Harkins and Vermeersch. Candidates for queen included Brylee Kiminski, Jaxie Pogorelc, Lucy Sinkkonen, Sydney Hall, Sophie Brenner, Brianna Despot, Kiana Bender, Emmie Ellena and Aleyxs Serafin. Candidates for king included Ryan Conway, Josh South, Otto Cockburn, Jake Huhta, Ethan Gunderson, Evan McWilliams, Conrad Kiehn, Elijah Halli and Jordan Allen.
