County COVID cases slow
June 12, 2020
The Minnesota Department of Health put the number of positive COVID-19 cases in Carlton at 78 as of Wednesday, June 10. That number includes all cases since the coronavirus reached the county and includes confirmed cases at the Moose Lake prison, which has consistently made up more than half the total cases in the county. Cases at the prison have declined steeply in recent weeks, however.
Statewide, Minnesota counted a total of 28,869 confirmed positive COVID-19 cases out of 369,795 tests as of Wednesday. Of those confirmed cases, 427 are currently hospitalized and 24,675 no longer need isolation. There have been 1,236 deaths, plus 31 “probable COVID-19 deaths,” where it was listed on the death certificate but there was not a documented test result.
No one has died in Carlton County from the disease, according to MDH numbers reported on Wednesday.
