CEC senior forward Brayden Tyman lost an edge on a rush against Duluth East goaltender Dane Callaway late in regulation in a March 4 game in Duluth. CEC and Duluth East skated to a 2-2 overtime tie. The Greyhounds season is over after a Covid-19 exposure among the team.

While the Moose Lake Area boys hockey team ended its season Tuesday in a play-in game - losing 10-1 to St. Francis - the Lumberjacks will face Marshall at 7 p.m. Thursday at Northwoods Credit Union Arena after this issue of the Pine Knot News goes to press.

Cloquet-Esko-Carlton head coach Shea Walters is optimistic about playoffs. His players are healthy and they've been playing well, he said.

"We've had an interesting schedule compared to previous years: it's been a little more local and we've had success with that," Walters said. "We played well against a very good Denfeld team - that was our most complete game yet - followed by a tough game against Hermantown.

"It's a tough section, but I like our chances."

Following are the seedings for Section 7AA boys hockey:

No. 1 Grand Rapids (1st round bye)

Thursday, March 18 (after this issue of the Pine Knot went to press):

• No. 4 CEC vs. No. 7 Duluth Marshall

• No. 2 Andover vs. No. 6 Anoka

• No. 3 Forest Lake vs. No. 5 Elk River

Duluth East, because of a positive case of Covid, will not be in the tournament.

The second round will be played Saturday, March 20. Grand Rapids will play the winner of CEC vs. Marshall; the Andover vs. Anoka winner will play the winner of Forest Lake and Elk River.
