State courts drop mask use

The Minnesota Judicial Branch announced March 4 that it was lifting the statewide order requiring face coverings in court facilities. It went into effect on Monday. The order included a word of caution about Covid-19 rates in certain areas of the state and optional mask use to keep people safe.

The order issued by chief justice Lorie S. Gildea lifts the requirement of face coverings for every person entering a court facility. The chief judge in each district is authorized to require face coverings in court facilities in areas where Covid-19 cases rates remain high, as deemed by the CDC. Face coverings will be provided by court staff upon request.
